We arrived in Guayquil around midnight, after our transfer was delayed and we spent 9 hours in the Houston airport.
I briefly mentioned it before, but my perception of Ecuador was a little off. I predicted it to be a little rough, but not developing - at least not in the main part of cities and whatnot. Turns out, except for a few places here and there, it's overwhelmingly developing.
Our taxi drive to find the Guayaquil (the country's largest city) hostel was a bit of culture shock, as the housing was much more shanty than I thought...and it looked even more sketchy at night. The hostels we had looked into were closed, so the taxi driver suggested a hotel, which, oddly enough, was oriental-themed.
I took a few night shots out the window in my initial amazement. This is one.

(Llegamos a Guayaquil alrededor de la medianoche, después de que nuestra transferencia se retrasó y gastamos 9 horas en el aeropuerto de Houston. Brevemente he mencionado lo anterior, pero mi percepción de Ecuador fue un poco apagada. Predije que sería algo en bruto, pero no desarrollado -al menos no en la parte principal de las ciudades y las que no-. Excepto por algunos pocos lugares aquí y allá, éstas se desarrollan abrumadoramente. Nuestro conductor de taxi para encontrar un hostal en Guayaquil (la ciudad más grande del país) fue un shock cultural, como que el hospedaje fue mucho más marginal de lo que yo pensaba... y parecía, incluso, más vago en la noche. Los hostales que yo había estudiado estaban cerrados, así que el chofer del taxi sugirió un hotel, el cual, fue de tema oriental. Tomé unas pocas fotos nocturnas por fuera de la ventana en mi asombro inicial. Esta es una)
